The best honeymoon destinations, month by month

The "best" honeymoon spot depends entirely on when you're going. Here's how the classics line up through the year.

The Maldives

Best in the dry season (roughly December–April) — calm seas, blue skies, perfect for overwater villas. The green season (May–November) is cheaper and still lovely, with short tropical showers. Diving and snorkelling are good year-round.

Santorini (Greece)

May, June, September and early October are the sweet spot — warm, sunny and far less crowded than peak July–August (which is hot, busy and expensive). Winter is quiet and many venues close.

Bali

Driest and sunniest in the dry season (April–October). The green season is lush and cheaper but wetter. Bali works most of the year if you don't mind the odd downpour.

Amalfi Coast (Italy)

Late May–June and September are ideal — warm sea, long evenings, fewer crowds than August (which is peak Italian-holiday chaos). Much of the coast winds down from November to March.

Matching the month to the moment

The honest takeaway

Pick the place that suits your wedding date's season, not just its postcard. The same island can be a dream in one month and a washout in another — timing is everything.
